1982年從(cong)(cong)華東工(gong)學(xue)院畢(bi)業并(bing)獲(huo)機械工(gong)程學(xue)士學(xue)位(wei),1987年從(cong)(cong)中(zhong)國(guo)(guo)科學(xue)院自(zi)動(dong)(dong)化(hua)研(yan)(yan)究(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)所畢(bi)業并(bing)獲(huo)自(zi)動(dong)(dong)控(kong)制(zhi)理(li)(li)論(lun)及(ji)應用(yong)碩士學(xue)位(wei),1994年從(cong)(cong)美(mei)國(guo)(guo)圣母大學(xue)畢(bi)業并(bing)獲(huo)電氣工(gong)程博士學(xue)位(wei)。曾在(zai)(zai)美(mei)國(guo)(guo)通(tong)用(yong)汽車(che)公司研(yan)(yan)究(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)開發中(zhong)心工(gong)作(zuo)和斯(si)蒂文(wen)斯(si)理(li)(li)工(gong)學(xue)院電機與(yu)(yu)計算(suan)機工(gong)程系(xi)(xi)任助(zhu)教(jiao)授(shou)。從(cong)(cong)1999年開始,在(zai)(zai)芝加哥伊利(li)諾依大學(xue)電機與(yu)(yu)計算(suan)機工(gong)程系(xi)(xi)工(gong)作(zuo),先后任該校助(zhu)教(jiao)授(shou) (1999–2002)、終(zhong)(zhong)身(shen)職副(fu)教(jiao)授(shou) (2002–2006)和終(zhong)(zhong)身(shen)職正教(jiao)授(shou) (2006年起)。2008年,入選中(zhong)國(guo)(guo)科學(xue)院“百人(ren)(ren)計劃(hua)(hua)”在(zai)(zai)自(zi)動(dong)(dong)化(hua)研(yan)(yan)究(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)所任研(yan)(yan)究(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)員。曾任中(zhong)國(guo)(guo)科學(xue)院自(zi)動(dong)(dong)化(hua)研(yan)(yan)究(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)所復雜系(xi)(xi)統(tong)管(guan)理(li)(li)與(yu)(yu)控(kong)制(zhi)國(guo)(guo)家重點實驗室副(fu)主(zhu)任。自(zi)1992年起劉德榮(rong)教(jiao)授(shou)共出版(ban)了19部學(xue)術(shu)著作(zuo)、260篇(pian)(pian)SCI期刊論(lun)文(wen)、260篇(pian)(pian)國(guo)(guo)際會議(yi)論(lun)文(wen)。目前在(zai)(zai)SCI數據庫(ku)里(li)面(mian)總(zong)引(yin)用(yong)10500次,H-index為(wei)57。在(zai)(zai)GoogleScholar里(li)面(mian)總(zong)引(yin)用(yong)17650次,H-index為(wei)73。劉德榮(rong)教(jiao)授(shou)自(zi)1992年以(yi)來(lai)(lai)的(de)(de)(de)(de)主(zhu)要研(yan)(yan)究(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)成(cheng)果總(zong)結如下(xia)。(1)早(zao)期研(yan)(yan)究(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)飽(bao)和非(fei)(fei)線性(xing)系(xi)(xi)統(tong),從(cong)(cong)事非(fei)(fei)線性(xing)系(xi)(xi)統(tong)穩(wen)定性(xing)方(fang)面(mian)的(de)(de)(de)(de)研(yan)(yan)究(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)工(gong)作(zuo),其成(cheng)果被國(guo)(guo)際學(xue)術(shu)界(jie)命(ming)名為(wei)“Liu-Michel”判據,解(jie)決了飽(bao)和非(fei)(fei)線性(xing)作(zuo)用(yong)下(xia)系(xi)(xi)統(tong)的(de)(de)(de)(de)穩(wen)定性(xing)問題(ti)。(2)在(zai)(zai)神經網絡方(fang)面(mian),開創了遞(di)歸神經網絡的(de)(de)(de)(de)稀疏結構研(yan)(yan)究(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)工(gong)作(zuo)并(bing)成(cheng)功(gong)將成(cheng)果應用(yong)于聯想記憶和細(xi)胞神經網絡。(3)近10年來(lai)(lai),主(zhu)要從(cong)(cong)事自(zi)適應動(dong)(dong)態規劃(hua)(hua)理(li)(li)論(lun)和應用(yong)研(yan)(yan)究(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)工(gong)作(zuo),在(zai)(zai)該領域(yu)出版(ban)了三本書,100多(duo)篇(pian)(pian)SCI論(lun)文(wen),是國(guo)(guo)際上該研(yan)(yan)究(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)領域(yu)的(de)(de)(de)(de)領軍人(ren)(ren)物之一。自(zi)適應動(dong)(dong)態規劃(hua)(hua)方(fang)法跟(gen)強化(hua)學(xue)習是同類方(fang)法,是智(zhi)能控(kong)制(zhi)、優化(hua)、信息處(chu)理(li)(li)、人(ren)(ren)工(gong)智(zhi)能和機器學(xue)習領域(yu)的(de)(de)(de)(de)熱點研(yan)(yan)究(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)方(fang)向,Google旗下(xia)人(ren)(ren)工(gong)智(zhi)能圍棋AlphaGo采用(yong)的(de)(de)(de)(de)算(suan)法就是強化(hua)學(xue)習跟(gen)深(shen)度學(xue)習算(suan)法的(de)(de)(de)(de)結合。
